Yesterday I took CLF the Manchester Museum. That's the museum that's part of the university not the Museum of Science and Industry that is bigger and has steam engines. We saw local bog body Lindow Man. Normally he's at the British Museum but he's on loan to Manchester until April 2009 which is good because it gave us a chance to see him. It also managed to invoke some thoughtfulness from CLF over the display of ancient remains. He actually happily filled in some comment cards about it. Go him. The mummies were all covered up except for a couple of skeletons. CLF was fascinated. As we were wandering around the museum (we didn't manage to see the dinosaurs) I could just imagine Fraser taking Ray to a trip to a museum. I think held really love the ethnographic gallery which has examples of Alaskan Eskimo material. Ray would be there pointing out it says 'Eskimo' and Fraser would be explaining about the use of the words Eskimo and Inuit depending on Geographic area. There were a pair of sungoggles made from bone that were 'Inuit' Not half as dork as the sunglasses the boys wear in the Pilot. CLF was also enamoured by the crossbows. I would wager that Fraser is a crossbow expert. Thus: Ray: You just shot a guy with a crossbow. Fraser: He's not seriously injured. Ray: You know most people use a gun. Fraser; I'm not licenced to carry a gun here. Ray: And crossbows don't need permits? Fraser: I'm not sure, Ray. Perhaps you better arrest me. Just in case. Ray: What is with you and handcuffs? ;-) Also Bonekickers tonight....whee! Tags: clf, random ds connections, random snippet
